Interview with Amya Arzuaga
Amaya Arzuaga (born in Lerma (Burgos), in 1970), is a Spanish designer. She studied in the UPM and in 1992 she finished Fashion Design and joined her parents' enterprise, Elipse. In 1994, she created her own firm. She sells and shows her collections regularly in international fashion fairs like Atmosphère (Paris), Fashion Cotterie (New York), Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana (Milan), Pasarela Cibeles (Madrid), Passarel·la Gaudí (Barcelona), and London Fashion Week(London). Amaya Arzuaga has more than 200 boutiques in Spain.
Kostas: Why fashion Amya why not sculpture?
Because I can’t do it, I would love to, but I can’t.
I go to … Fashion University I start very young in fashion.
Kostas: What inspires you?
Everything you see, could be a book, could be art exhibition, could be nothing, could be walks
always helps but I never know.
When you have one idea the second is easy they complicate thing is to have the first so when you
get I say oh I like it … and then suddenly appears I do that … I have too many months working but
was not complicate.
I tried to make something feminine very subtle no heavier fabrics with sweet and delicate
movement and that’s all.
I love … but sometimes in some collections not a special in just one.
I … with my second line because I think Paris is the place and I always love to be here so I am
I tried to have my own identity but Paris house everything there … here so I try to be have a
smaller space for me.
Oh world of fashion is just one world because with internet it doesn’t matter where you’re from
your talent and your creativity so the good thing is everybody can be here.
We have been in Paris for a week and will have a … that we are playing all the time and we are
singing and … it was very funny, we enjoy our time here.
